Pulling down silos enhances inquiry learning February 2, 2011

The  New Zealand Education Gazette has published this account  of the 2010 Inquiry Learning project at Riccarton High School.
Teachers at Christchurch’s Riccarton High School believe schools have a tendency to ‘silo’ into learning areas. They decided to push themselves outside their own teaching boundaries to encourage their students to take more control of their own learning.
This project gave Riccarton High School a fantastic opportunity to invite Christchurch City Libraries reference librarians to collaborate with teachers, in the Joint Use Library they both share, to enhance students research.
